Clarissa Tomasina

PhD Student

Clarissa has completed her studies in Biomedical Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano. During her Bachelor, she concluded her thesis in Professor Ferrigno Lab, where she focused on the development of an ontology for surgical assistance systems. She then moved onto her Master and she pursued a degree in the same field with specialization in Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering. During this period, she spent a semester abroad at the Univesidad de Navarra in Spain, where she studied at the Center of Studies and Technical Research.

In September 2017, she joined the Cooper-White team at the Australian Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology in Australia to complete her master thesis. Her work focused on the development of a 3D natural hydrogel platform for spinal cord regeneration. In July 2018, she joined Professor Moroni Lab at MERLN to work on the technical feasibility for 3D printing of bioresorbable poly(ester)urethanes. The aim of her work is to understand the potential of these materials for the regeneration of complex tissues.
