OviChip : 3D in vitro human oviduct model

After completing her undergraduate study in Bioengineering at Hanyang University in Seoul, Republic of Korea, Jaehyeon moved to Germany to undertake her Master’s in Integrative Neuroscience at Otto von Guericke Universität Magdeburg. Her interest and motivation to work on biofabrication in the context of neuroscience led her perform master’s thesis off-site at Julius Maximilians Universität Würzburg, where she focused on the operation of Melt Electrowriting to print high-resolution microscale fibers to induce improved glioblastoma cell adhesion and migration.

In October 2021, Jaehyeon joined CTR of MERLN as a PhD candidate. Her research aims to fabricate a reproducible and standardized full-scale 3D in vitro human oviduct model. Through her project, ultimately, she would like to recapitulate fibrotic responses and the role of tubal innervation observed during tubal inflammation.
