PhD Student

Reversing Adverse Remodeling Using a Tunable and Active Cardiac Patch

Maryam earned her bachelor's and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering. Her master’s program, a collaboration between Isfahan University of Technology and Delft University of Technology, focused on designing, optimizing, and fabricating bioinspired structures that mimic human cortical bone. During this time, she discovered a deep fascination with tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, inspiring her to pursue further research in this field.

Following her passion, Maryam joined the MERLN Institute in the Department of Complex Tissue Regeneration (CTR) as a Ph.D. student under the supervision of Prof. L. Moroni. Her doctoral research focuses on developing an active and programmable cardiac patch to reverse adverse remodelling in patients affected by myocardial infarction.
