Timo started his bachelor’s Molecular Life Sciences at Maastricht University in 2003. After finishing his bachelor’s and subsequent master’s (with honors), he started his PhD at Maastricht University at the departments of Pathology and Biomedical Engineering late 2007. He finished his thesis, entitled “Plaque angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis: can small vessels influence atherosclerosis?”, in 2013, specializing in vascular biology and (intravital) microscopy.

After a short post-doc within the department of Pathology, he relocated to Amsterdam to work at Sanquin Research, working on the vascular bone marrow niche, and studying the role of bone marrow vasculature in stem cell trafficking. Early 2017 he joined MERLN as a lab manager and postdoc with a special focus on applications of advanced microscopy pipelines in regenerative medicine. His fields of expertise include histology/pathology, advanced microscopy and vital imaging, and image analysis.
