Rebeca Rivero

Postdoc

Development of dynamic hydrogels as synthetic extracellular matrix for regenerative medicine applications

Rebeca finished her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 2011 at the National University of Rio Cuarto, Argentina. At the same year, she started her PhD in Chemical Sciences, at the same university, where she was working in the development of a new macro and mesoporous synthetic hydrogels. During the last year of her PhD, she discovered her interest in biology. Rebeca finalized her PhD in 2016. As postdoctoral researcher, she was working on the synthesis and development of biocompatible polymeric scaffolds for biomedical applications, combining her interests in materials chemistry and cell biology.
Here in MERLN she is working on the design of dynamic soft materials for additive manufacturing and regenerative medicine, mimicking the natural cell environment and studying the cell-material interactions.
