Nano-biofabrication approaches towards manufacturing of human tympanic membrane

Shivesh comes from the steel city of Bokaro in India. He pursued his Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and Master’s in Chemistry under the integrated dual degree program at BITS, Pilani (India). As a part of his academic curriculum, he moved to Boston in January 2016 to pursue his yearlong thesis at Harvard–MIT Health Sciences and Technology (USA). It was there, he was first introduced to biofabrication for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Following his graduation, Shivesh undertook a couple of short stints at A*STAR, Singapore and 3D Bioprinting Solutions, Moscow (Russia). Both these engagements proved crucial in offering him a deeper insight into the upcoming biofabrication strategies for tissue regeneration.

Fascinated by the field of research, he later joined IBEC Barcelona (Spain) in May 2017 as a Research Assistant to work on tissue-engineered bio-hybrid robotics. Shivesh joined MERLN in July 2018 as a Doctoral candidate, where his research is focused on filling an existing gap in the treatment of chronic otitis media by fabricating highly performant biomimetic eardrum devices.
