Zhengdong Gao
Designing mechanically active scaffolds to influence mechanical transduction of macrophages
Zhengdong obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine from Ningbo University and Master’s degree in Surgery from Shandong University, China. In his Master’s project, he worked on the immune microenvironment during bladder infection, after which Zhengdong joined MERLN in September 2022 under the supervision of Prof. Lorenzo Moroni. Here in MERLN, his research is to design mechanically active scaffolds to study the mechanobiology of the macrophages towards tissue regeneration and to control the activity of macrophages involved in the foreign body response through mechanical stimuli.
