Biomaterial immune control discoveries could reduce implant rejection

Scientists from the University of Nottingham, in collaboration with MERLN's AurĂ©lie Carlier, Steven Vermeulen, Alex Vasilevich (alumnus) and Nick Beijer (alumnus), have discovered how the materials used in medical implants like artificial joints can be adapted to control the immune response to them and reduce the risk of rejection. For more details check out this news article or discover more about the studies in these two recent papers in Advanced Science and Matter.
