MERLN opened its doors yesterday to a group of female highschool students from the Porta Mosana high school in Maastricht to mark the occasion of Girls’ Day. Girls' Day is a national initiative by VHTO to let girls experience the world of science and technology up close and inform them about future career opportunities in these fields in order to stimulate more girls to choose a career in the exact sciences.
The girls had a busy day: lectures, a science quiz, lab tour, "speeddating" with female scientists, isolating DNA in the lab, meeting patients... Plenty of opportunities to see what science is all about and whether its something they see themselves studying 4 years from now.
We would like to thank everyone involved in making this day a success! And of course also a big thank you to the Porta Mosana students and their teachers!
