We are happy to announce that Professor Lorenzo Moroni will be taking over as Scientific Director of the MERLN Institute. Lorenzo will be leading the Institute now that Pamela Habibovic has accepted the position of Rector Magnificus.
Lorenzo will also continue his role as chair of the Complex Tissue Regeneration (CTR) department, while at the same time leading MERLN into an exciting new future. He will set out to continue his goal of strengthening the position of MERLN as an open and collaborative institute, while simultaneously performing world-leading research, from basic to translational, in the field of regenerative medicine.
"I am honored and thrilled to accept the position of scientific director of MERLN. We have had a unique opportunity 8 years ago to lay the foundations of a new institute, becoming in a short time one of the largest and most active research center at the crossroad between biology, biomaterials, and micro-, nano-, and biofabrication technologies. I am looking forward to continue stimulating the exquisitely collaborative, interdisciplinary, and collegial environment that we have created, pushing the boundaries of technological and scientific achievements in regenerative medicine, and beyond towards exploring how regenerative medicine technologies can be applied to other biotechnological fields."
