Engineering Biomimetic Environments Through Bioinspired Dynamic Materials: Towards a Synthetic Biology Approach for Tissue Engineering

He embarked on a solo journey at the age of 16 to pursue his education at United World College Maastricht, where he completed his International Baccalaureate with a concentrated focus on science. Continuing his academic journey, he pursued his bachelor's degree in the Maastricht Science Program at Maastricht University, where he delved into the realms of organic chemistry, neuroscience, and molecular biology, culminating in a thesis centred on Synthetic Biology. Alongside his academic pursuits, he actively engaged in various startups such as Flui.Go, which specialized in microfluidics and STEM educational tools. Moreover, he contributed his expertise to the iGEM, a synthetic biology competition, both as a contestant and an advisor to aspiring teams.

After completing his bachelor's degree, he pursued a master's in biomedical sciences, specializing in regenerative medicine. Now, in his Ph.D., he endeavours to explore dynamic materials for delivering therapeutic cells and drugs. His focus is on controlled delivery movement towards designer smart biomaterials delivery systems, employing synthetic biology.
