Supramolecular covalent hydrogels as synthetic extracellular matrices for biofabrication

Thibault obtained his BSc degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Utrecht University, where an internship on hydrogel engineering inspired him to pursue an MSc degree in Biofabrication at the same institution. During his MSc, he gained research experience in kidney engineering (Utrecht University) and high-resolution DLP printing (Harvard University).

In February 2025, he joined MERLN as a PhD Candidate on the SupraValent project. The aim of this project is to develop hierarchical supramolecular hydrogels with in situ formed covalent bonds to yield strong, dynamic, and spatiotemporally complex biomaterials that mimic native extracellular matrices. His focus lies on developing and characterizing the supramolecular materials and using them as bioinks for tissue engineering and 3D bioprinting.
