Whitney van de Vin finished her intermediate vocational education in biotechnology in 2017. After this she gained her bachelor’s in biomedical science at Zuyd Hogeschool within 3 years.
In 2020, Whitney started her professional career at MERLN within Dr. Stefan Giselbrecht’s group focussing on developing an Embryo model. In 2024, Whitney worked for Qorium B.V where she was a senior tissue engineering associate working on cultivated leather. Here she learned to work with large scale cultures, tissue bioreactors and managing a lab space.
In 2025, Whitney returned to MERLN to join Dr. David Kilian in the cellular agriculture group. She is very excited to start working on cultivated meat and on the engineering of the satellite cells necessary for these cultures. Next to this, Whitney is active in the MERLN Outreach team.
In her free time Whitney enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and their two cats. She likes to be creative in any way, like drawing, painting, crafting, etc. Next to this she enjoys playing (board)games, watching a good movie and being an active member of the Rotaract Parkstad.
