David Kilian receives the NWO Veni Grant

We are happy to announce that Principal Investigator, David Kilian, has received the NWO Veni Grant for his research. This grant will allow him to explore a new research line on biofabrication and biomaterials in cellular agriculture. David’s project, titled '3D Bioprinting of cultivated meat: Biopolymer matrices supporting formation of muscle fibers in vitro', aims to design protein-rich biopolymer blends as scaffolds to support bovine cells developing into 3D muscle tissue. He applies multi-phasic 3D bioprinting for texturization and oxygen-nutrient supply while scaling up dimensions of cultivated meat to further advance potential of future alternative proteins. The NWO Veni Grant is an incentive for adventurous, talented and groundbreaking researchers to further develop their own research ideas over the next three years.
