Amin Lotfiani earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, where he focused on the design and fabrication of compliant grippers. In 2023, he joined the University of Twente as a postdoctoral researcher, collaborating with the Surgical Robotics and Precision Engineering groups to develop miniaturized flexure joints for surgical robotics applications. After nearly two years, in February 2025, he joined the CTR department at the MERLN Institute, Maastricht University, for his second postdoc. His current research explores automation in cell culturing platforms, micro-particle fabrication, and the assembly of cell aggregates.
