Biomimetic microscaffolds for microfluidic/on-chip immune-competent skin and intestinal models

Elisabetta obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Engineering at La Sapienza University in Rome. Afterward, she moved to Turin where she got a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, with a specialization in Bionanotechnologies, at Politecnico di Torino.
During her master thesis, she studied the direct reprogramming of human cardiac fibroblasts into cardiomyocytes when cultured in a mechanically stimulated 3D microenvironment.

In November 2021, she started her PhD as one of the many academic and industrial partners of the LymphChip project, which aims at developing the first generation of human immunocompetent Organ-on-Chip (OoC) models.
In particular, her project will focus on the fabrication of 3D microscaffolds for OoC models of intestine, skin, and lymph node enriched with a 3D lymphatic system.
